Last year, Family Resource & Referral Center helped to ensure that 5,344 eligible children were able to receive a quality early childhood education through the provision of child care services while their parents went back to work. This year alone, we have helped over 64,000 San Joaquin County residents get connected to over 3,500 programs and services through our 211 Call Center. An astonishing 3,061 callers identified as having children in the home younger than age 5 and who were in need of help with basic needs such as: housing, food resources, health care services, and more.
For the past 42 years, Family Resource & Referral Center has helped families in need of concrete support. Meet Mary, a working parent who credits the help of Family Resource & Referral Center for providing her family with community resources and child care so that she can focus on her career goals. Mary, a widowed mother of 5, used our CalWORKs services to build her resume and gain employment so that she could get back on her feet. Now, a lead dispatcher for a local lumber company, Mary has transformed her life and is on the path toward self-sufficiency. Because of the nurturing and care her young son receives from his child care Provider, Mary is able to focus on her tasks at work and provide for her family.
Mary is just one of thousands of working parents who have been able to receive child care services & support this year; it is through the generosity of our community that Family Resource & Referral Center is able to help families create better futures.
